Summer Picnic in the Park Schedule for 2013

Even though we are expecting snow tonight summer is almost here! Well hopefully it is almost here.  Even so it's time to start up the Summer Picnic in the Park.  The summer schedule is posted below and I will also be posting weekly updates of the parks we are going to go to.  This is open to anyone who has kids who would like to go to the park.  Feel free to bring your friends too!  Some people bring lunches and eat at the park and some just go to play.  The start time is listed as around 10 am and they are every Thursday.  This week's park is going to be Faversham Park at 73rd and Ingalls.  Hope to see you there!

2013 Summer Picnic in the Park Schedule Thursdays 10:00 AM

May 2 - Faversham Park - 73rd and Ingalls

(From 72nd & Wadsworth, drive east on 72nd for almost one mile. Turn left on Ingalls St, drive north one block.)

May 9 - Robbie Ferrufino Park- 74th Ave. and Carr Street

(From 74th & Kipling, drive east about 2 mile and the park is on the north side of 74th before you get to Carr.)

May 16 - Allendale Park - 63rd and Oak

(From 64th & Oak, head south about 2 blocks, going through Grace Place Condominiums. You will see a sign for Allendale
Park after you pass through Grace Place.)

May 23 - Sensory Park - Church Ranch & 103rd

(From Wadsworth & 100th/Church Ranch, head east on Church Ranch for roughly a mile, then turn left on 103rd Ave.
Immediately turn right into the second office building parking lot - the building for The Children=s Hospital. Drive along the
east end of the building, until you get to the back of the parking lot. The park is just north of the parking lot.)

May 30 - Discovery Park of Wheatridge - 37th & Kipling

(Head south on Kipling until you get to the intersection at 38th Ave. Turn East, and go one block to Johnson Street. Turn
south and go about 1 block until you get to the parking lot on the right.)

June 6 -Lakecrest Park - 81st and a couple blocks west of Kipling

(From Kipling, go west on 81st Lane, then turn left on Kline. Park on Kline & follow path back to park.)
Bring buckets and stuff for fishing for crawdads in the river!

June 13 - Skyline Park - 58th & a couple blocks west of Kipling

(This new park is immediately west of the Stenger Soccer Complex. There is a very small road at the end of the fields that is
not well marked. You cannot access it driving west on 58th because of the median, so you have to approach it coming from
Ward Road, heading east on 58th. The little road is the first thing you will see on your right before the fields start. Turn right
(south) on that road and go for about 1 block until you find the parking area. You won=t see the park from the parking area.
Walk south on the path until you get to the park.)

June 20 -.Oak Park- 65th and Oak

(From 64th & Oak, drive north a couple of blocks. It=s just north of Campbell Elementary on the east side of Oak.)

June 27 - Majestic View Park - 72nd and 1 block west of Carr

(From 72nd and Kipling, head east on 72nd until you are almost to Carr, then turn right into the parking lot.)

July 11 -Belleview Park - Belleview and Santa Fe- Meet at Alkire Building at 10:00 to caravan there!

(Alkire Building is 72nd Ave. across from Apex)
A little far away, worth the drive! There is a creek to play in, petting zoo, train ride, and play area. The train and
zoo each cost roughly $1.00. Bring swimsuit, towel, extra clothes, and sandals to play in the water.

July 18 -Ralston Valley Park- 68th Ave. and Coors St.

(From 72nd & Ward, head west until Beech St, then turn left. Follow Beech as it goes south, then turns to the west. Stay on
Beech until you find Coors Street, then turn right. Park at the end of the cul-de-sac.)
Bring buckets and stuff for fishing for crawdads in the river!

July 25 - Westminster Center Park - 92nd Ave & 1 block east of Sheridan

(Head east on 92nd, going through the intersection at Sheridan, then take your first left onto City Center Drive. Go one block
north to 93rd, then turn right.) Come with swimming suits - there are fountains!
